East Side vs. West Side of Lake Norman

East Side vs. West Side of Lake Norman

Comparison of Lifestyles, Conveniences and Traffic

Lake Norman is surrounded by beautiful homes and neighborhoods tucked into hidden coves preserving the beauty of the lake while offering a large selection of waterfront and water view properties. The East side and West side of the lake each have their advantages, with very different personalities.

The East side of the lake, including Mecklenburg and Iredell counties, features the towns of Troutman, Mooresville, Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville. The area is bustling, with endless options for restaurants, shops, and things to do.

If you prefer a more quiet, less densely populated area to call home, you may want to take a look at the West  side of Lake Norman. In Lincoln County, the West side includes the towns of Denver, Terrell and Sherrill’s Ford.

Both sides boast highly regarded school districts, with excellent public and private options.

With the booming economy in the Charlotte - the Lake Norman area comes the associated traffic congestion. One thing you will want to consider is the direction of your morning commute, which may very well affect which area you chose to live.

The main thruways are:
  • I77, connecting the east side of the lake to Charlotte and South Carolina in the south and I40 and all points north.
  • Hwy 150, crossing Lake Norman to connect Mooresville to Terrell, Sherrill’s Ford and Denver
  • Hwy 16, running north/south on the west side of the lake, crossing Hwy 150 and connecting Denver to the 485 loop around Charlotte.
Whichever side of Lake Norman you choose to call home, East or West, you will be sure to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.  Lake Norman living offers some of the most unique and picturesque homes in all of NC. Lake Norman is a boaters paradise, sports enthusiast haven, and just a all around great place to live.

I have lived in West Lake Norman, at Sailview  for many years.  I have worked with many local builders and have an inside connection on future developments.  Whether you are looking to build your dream home or find the perfect resale property, consider me your local resource. I'd love to give you a tour of this beautiful area, give me a call!
